Can A Facelift Surgery Give You A New Lease of Life?

Can A Facelift Surgery Give You A New Lease of Life?

Whether you like it or not, your face is one of the first parts of your body that shows signs of aging. As you age, your skin becomes thicker and the pores become wider. Your cheeks, chin, eyelids and the skin under your eyes begin to sag. Wrinkles, age lines and folds appear on your cheeks and forehead. Your cheeks become hollow and your jaw line loses definition. A healthy lifestyle can delay the aging process, but if you are already beginning to look old, then a facelift surgery can give you a new lease of life.
Facelift, also called rhytedectomy, is a cosmetic surgery that is designed to give people back their youthful appearance. It targets your mid face, lower face and jaw line. Depending upon their invasiveness, there are several types of facelift, including superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) life and deep plane. Facelift is often a major surgery requiring anesthesia. Full recovery and resumption of normal life after take several weeks. Regardless of the type of facelift, it generally involves the following:
• Administer anesthetic: Before the surgery, the surgeon administers either a general anesthetic or a local anesthetic to numb your skin. The former makes you unconscious for the duration of the surgery while latter keeps you awake.
• Create incisions: The surgeon makes incisions along your hairline and around your ears. The incision may extend into your scalp.
• Rearrange the skin: The doctor then carefully lifts the skin from your face, rearranges the tissue to make it smooth, tightens the facial oval and removes any excess skin that may be there. He may also remove excess fat with a technique called liposuction.
• Suture (stitch up) the skin: The doctor then places the skin back on your face, sutures the incision and applies bandage over it.
After the surgery, your face looks smoother, younger and healthier. However, your mid face, lower face and jaw line these are not the only areas that exhibit signs of aging. Your eyelids, eyebrows, chin, nose, ears and especially your neck can easily betray your true age. Therefore, facelift is often done in combination with one of the more of several other procedures that include the following:
• Brow lift (forehead lift): This procedure is done to correct droopy eyebrows and remove creases and furrows from the forehead.
• Chin surgery: This procedure involves enlarging a small the chin with implants or reducing a large chin by removing the bone.
• Eyelid surgery: This procedure is done to correct droopy upper eyelid and puffy lower eyelids.
• Ear surgery (Octoplasty): This procedure is done to reduce the size of excessively large ears.
• Facial implant: This procedure involves placing silicone implants in your cheek, chin and jaws to improve the symmetry of your face.
• Neck lift: This procedure is done to remove wrinkles and bands on your neck by removing excess skin and fat.
• Nose surgery (Rhinoplasty): This procedure is done to make your nose larger or smaller. It also reshapes your nose to improve your appearance.
Combined with one or more of the above surgeries, a facelift can produce amazing results. A properly planned and executed facelift can make you look younger by up to 20 years. This is the reason many Hollywood stars and celebrities manage to look so youthful even in their sixties and seventies. You too can achieve the same effect by having a facelift and give yourself a new lease of life.

Facial Cleansing Tips

Expert Author Maria K. Garcia
You will agree that sometimes we feel that our face is not cleaned as thoroughly as it should be even after we took a shower and used special face wash. Sometimes we even notice that out pores look dirty and the skin looks not fresh.
Cleaning your face properly it is not that easy as it may seem to be. 30 seconds of massaging and foaming the face is not enough. There are some tips that will help you to use your cleanser correctly and some additional information to make the best of things.
When you use just your face cleanser to remove makeup from your face it can`t clean it all and it seems that you still have your eyeliner on the face. The best and the most comfortable way to get rid of all the makeup from your face, is to use a liquid makeup remover applied on a cotton pad. This process should be done consecutively. You should start cleaning from the top of your eyelids then move toy lashes and after it to wipe the skin under the eyes.
How to choose the right cleanser according to your type of skin: To receive necessary effect you must clean your face during a minute. If you have oily or combined skin types then cleaning gel which forms bubbles will suit you best. If you have normal or dry skin then creamy cleanser should be used. We strongly recommend you to use a wash cloth that will help to get rid of dead cells. If you like experiments then you can try cleansing oil. It may seem strange but it effectively removes oil from your skin.
Peeling is the best way to make your face clean. If you want to have tender and soothe skin then you must peel it time after time. You should use it after or during the shower after you have cleaned your face. The most effective peeling is the one that contains AHA's which helps to remove dead cells equally.
Do you use toner? Toners are used rarely because they suit not to everyone especially for those who have normal skin. But in case that you have oily skin then toner is a perfect choice for you. It effectively removes oil from your skin and makes your face less shining before application of makeup. You must apply the toner on a cotton pad and wipe your skin. Pay special attention to the area near the nose because it is exposed to oiliness and it is the most visible.
Don`t go to sleep with dirty face. During a day you wear makeup which collects dust and we sure that you don`t want to fall asleep with all this dirt blocked pores on your face. If you did so then morning cleansing should much longer and more difficult. If you have no time to clean your face properly before going to bed then you should use facial cleanser pad.

How Hair Loss Can Be Reversed If You Have A Thyroid Disorder

How Hair Loss Can Be Reversed If You Have A Thyroid Disorder

Expert Author Sanusi Umar, M.D.
Hair loss is an extremely common condition. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, half the adults in the United States will notice hair thinning before they reach the age of forty.
If more hair seems to be falling out than usual, the best thing to do is to speak to a physician. During the early stages, it may be hard to tell if your condition is due to genetics and pattern baldness or a medical condition such as a thyroid imbalance. But a doctor can determine the actual cause.
What Is the Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland is a structure located in the throat area. It is shaped like a butterfly and produces several different hormones. The most common one is T4 (also called Thyoxin). It's main job is to regulate basic processes in the body. The main ones include:
  • temperature
  • metabolism
  • development and growth
  • levels of testosterone in the blood
Is Your Thyroid Causing You To Lose Hair?
Besides genetics, thyroid imbalances are a very common cause of hair loss and thinning. A doctor will need to conduct a blood test to make a formal diagnosis. But it will still be helpful to be familiar with common symptoms:
(1) fatigue and oversleeping
(2) inability to sleep
(3) irregular menstruation
(4) intolerance to temperature extremes
(5) dryness of the skin
(6) drastic mood shifts
(7) difficulty recalling information and performing other cognitive tasks
(8) sudden weight gain
(9) muscle aches
How Thyroid Disorders Affect Hair Follicles
A thyroid imbalance can take one of two forms:
(1) being overactive (hyperthyroidism)
(2) being underactive (hypothyroidism)
In both cases, testosterone converts to dehydrotestosterone (DHT) at a fast rate. And DHT will cause more hair follicles to enter a resting phase. Normally 10% of our hair is in a resting phase at any given time. The usual time frame is about three months before the hair shafts fall out.
But with thyroid issues, these cycles and processes speed up and hair falls out at a much greater rate. Unlike pattern baldness, however, new growth is still possible. However, this hair is thinner and drier.
Most individuals who are suffering from thyroid related hair loss will experience the loss of big hair clumps. This is particularly noticeable after bathing or showering.
Hair may also become depleted along the outside of the eyebrows. Follicles on other regions of the body may be affected as well.
Reversing Hair Loss By Treating the Thyroid
It is actually quite easy to treat hair loss that results from thyroid problems. Medication can be prescribed to restore a state of balanced hormones. One of the most commonly prescribed drugs is Levothyroxin. It is important to realize that many thyroid medications (including this one) list hair loss as a potential side effect.
Patients who can benefit from drug treatment will need to maintain a consistent treatment regimen for about a month. After this time, it is possible to see improvements in the quantity of new hair as well as the thickness.
It would be important to take proper steps right away in finding out how to treat hair loss.Delays can make it even more difficult to reverse the issue.

I Want To Make My Thin Hair Look Better With Hair Extensions - Is This OK If I'm Still Shedding?

I Want To Make My Thin Hair Look Better With Hair Extensions - Is This OK If I'm Still Shedding?

I sometimes hear from people who are looking to make their thinning hair appear more full when they are suffering from telogen effluvium. Often, one option that they will look at is getting hair extensions. But they will typically have concerns as to whether this cosmetic procedure is compatible with the type of hair loss that they have.
I might hear a comment like: "I've had telogen effluvium for over eight months. My hair looks absolutely awful. It is so thin and stringy. Sometimes, when I'm watching TV I see these celebrities with wonderful thick, wavy hair and the vast majority of them have hair extensions. I'm wondering if this would be an option for me. I really want to try this because every time I look in the mirror, I am so depressed because of the way that my hair looks. But I also have concerns. What if the weight of the extensions pulls out more hair? What if I shed out all of the extensions and waste my money? What if my hair is even more damaged? What if the process causing a massive shed? Can people with shedding get hair extensions?" I will try to answer these questions in the following article.
I am not a hair stylist, but I do know some people who have had extensions (even though I believe that is more common in people who have less aggressive shedding with hair loss conditions like androgenetic alopecia.) This makes sense because no one wants to pay for a lot of extensions only to have them shed out.
I have known a couple of people who got extensions when they had telogen effluvium. But, they went to stylists that specialized in hair loss and they got the weft type of extensions rather than the ones bonded to individual strands of hair. The reason for this was that binding to the strands individually would put a lot of weight on those strands (which is something that is probably not the best idea when you have hair that is already at risk of falling out.)
Also, you might be advised that you want to keep the extensions of a reasonable length. Longer hair can be very heavy and can contribute to them pulling out. I also think that it's going to be helpful if you accept the fact that it's going to be likely that you will lose some of the extensions to shedding. But, even so, you can still get some improvement in the way that your hair looks. It really is a give and take situation. I have also heard that this is hair loss during this procedure just like there is with any other procedure like coloring or a permanent wave.
I did look at getting extensions myself but they were so expensive and ultimately, the stylist told me that my hair wasn't horribly thin and that with the right cut and some curl, my hair could look fine without the expense and risk associated with extensions. I appreciated this because while I wanted for my hair to look better, I didn't want to put my future hair at risk. I don't want to discourage anyone though. I know some women who are very happy with their extensions and wouldn't be without them.
But to answer the question posed, people can and do get extensions with shedding hair. It's important to go to a good specialist though that has done this type of procedure on people with hair loss. It's also important to be realistic and to choose the type that are going to do the least amount of damage.
Also, in this particular case, eight months is a long time to shed with traditional telogen effluvium, so it might be worth it to take a closer look at what type of hair loss it might be. I learned countless tricks of camouflage and treatment during my hair loss.  It turned out that this plus finding my trigger was able to turn my situation around. Frequently Asked Questions about Acne and Diet

Frequently Asked Questions about Acne and Diet

Expert Author Mirza J. Utama
People say that diet doesn't have any connection with acne, and acne is not caused by the foods that you eat. What is the connection between acne and diet?
A. Acne has very strong connection with diet. In fact, your diet can either cause acne to appear in your skin or not. This is particularly true if you have some allergic reactions toward certain foods. In this case, your diet will affect your skin condition in a more obvious way. No matter how you reject the notion that diet and acne are related in some ways, the evidence speaks for itself. Whether diet is a direct or indirect cause for acne, it doesn't matter. The fact is that your diet can affect your skin condition and it can trigger acne to appear in your skin, whether directly or indirectly.
Q. What foods do I need to eat regularly in order to cure my acne problem?
A. In general, you should eat a lot of healthy foods regularly. What are healthy foods? They are natural foods, such as fruits and vegetables. It is recommended for you to eat fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables regularly because they are the best nourishment for your body.
Q. Can I cook my foods?
A. Yes, of course. You don't need to avoid cooked foods completely. Just be sure that you are keeping your diet in balance. For instance, most people who have acne often eat cooked foods too often without balancing their diet with healthy foods. As a result, they are building more and more toxins inside their body, which causes acne to appear in their skin. When you eat cooked foods, be sure to balance your diet with healthy foods as well.
Q. Can I clear my acne by fasting?
A. It will depend on how bad your acne is. The purpose of fasting is to clear the toxins within your body without allowing any more toxic buildup to occur within your body. If you have severe acne condition, it is good for you to fast for a few days, but the best way to clear your acne is by changing your diet completely so that you don't need to fast in order to clear the toxins within your body.
Q. Is bad diet the only cause for acne?
A. Bad diet is not the only cause for acne. In fact, it is just one of the many causes of acne. But, by changing your diet, you'll be able to solve most of your acne problems. You also need to do many things in order to cure acne completely, such as preventing stress from entering your mind, having proper sleep schedule, having regular exercises, and so on.
Q. Can I cure my acne without changing my diet?
A. If you already have a healthy diet, the answer is yes. But, if you don't have a healthy diet for now, then the answer is no. Acne is not a cosmetic problem, and therefore it can't be treated as one. You can't just apply any topical product to your skin and wish for magic to happen. Without changing your diet, all your attempts to cure your acne from the outside will fail.
Q. So, is there any good product for me to completely cure my acne?
A. There is no magic product that will help you to cure your acne completely with a single touch. But, you can apply a system that will help to deal with your acne from the root cause, which will allow you to cure your acne completely within a short period of time. It is called holistic acne cure system. You can find more information about this system here.
