Aloe vera is a perennial, succulent plant with green fleshy leaves. Aloe gel which is extracted from the plant's leaves is of medicinal importance. For so many years, people use this gel to treat minor wounds, sun burns, skin burns and a variety of other skin conditions. The plant contains natural ingredients including enzymes, amino acids, sugars, minerals, and vitamins etc. One can grow this plant both indoors and outdoors but should not be grown in direct sun light to prevent it from turning yellow. Do not overwater it because it's a succulent plant.
Aloe vera can be used for skin care. The aloe vera plant has the power to nourish and soothe the skin by directly applying the aloe gel on it.
How to apply aloe gel directly on the skin from a fresh plant?
1. Remove the mature leaves from the plant which are dark green in color, with less white spots and growing vertically.
2. Cut it away at the base with a pair of scissors.
3. Clean off all the dirt from the leaf surface by softly scrubbing it with a wet brush.
4. Trim the thorny edges of the leaf because they are very sharp and may scratch the skin during application.
5. Cut the leaf vertically in half.
6. The inner transparent gel can be applied directly to the skin. Use it gently.
7. Apply a thin layer all over the skin. It will be absorbed by the skin in several minutes.
8. After an hour remove it with warm water.
It nourishes the skin and gives it a natural shine. It helps replenish skin's moisture and keeps it hydrated. It is effective in many other skin conditions like treating acne, delay skin aging, minimize the visibility of stretch marks, and also helpful to recover sunburns.
This gel can also be used for treating first degree skin burns by directly applying it on the burnt area. For this purpose, apply the gel directly onto the burn in a gentle motion. Cut as many leaves as to cover the burn. Apply it twice a day for 2 to 3 days, until the burn is no longer painful.
